Q. How many hunters per guide?
A. We assign three hunters to one guide.
Q. Do you offer any guarantees?
A. Absolutely!.. We guarantee that you will have clean comfortable accommodations, great meals, your bear baits will be active, there will be game in the area that you are hunting and that you will have a great time if you want to. All other guarantees are optional.
Q. How many hunters do you accept per week?
A. We normally accept 6 hunters for bear hunting and up to 9 for deer, sometimes We will accept up to nine bear hunters if they are all in one group.
Q. Are you affiliated with the Northway Outfitters in Saskatchewan?
A. We are not affiliated in any way!. We are the original Northway Outfitters and began operating under the name Northway Outfitters in 1989 and registered the name in 1995, Northway Outfitters in Saskatchewan began operations in 1997.
Q. What is your policy regarding tipping.
A. While gratuities are not mandatory, they certainly are much appreciated by both, the guides and kitchen staff. Most clients usually budget approximately 10-12 percent of the cost of their hunt for tips.
Q. What is the acceptable arrival and departure times?
A. Arrive Sunday PM and depart Saturday by 9: AM
Q. How many active black bear hunting bait sites do you provide per hunter?
A. We provide a minimum of 2 active baits per hunter
Q. Can I be moved if desired?
A. We recommend hunting an active bait at least 3 days, If the bait is not active you will be moved right away.
Q. What do you consider an active bait?
A. A bait that that is being hit at least every 2 days, due to our baiting method 98% of our baits are hit several times every day.
Q. How far from the lodge will I be hunting?
A. We sometimes travel up to 25 to 30 miles from our lodge.
Q. How far will I have to walk to my stand?
A. From as little as100 yards to as far as ½ mile.
Q. Do you provide transportation from lodge to stands and hunting areas?
A. Transportation is supplied when possible, but there are times when we ask clients to use there own vehicles.
Q. What are the hunting departures and pick-up times for bear hunting? and how
long after dark is the last hunter picked up?
A. departure to the stands is usually no Later than 3:30 pm. and if you are the first hunter in your group to be dropped at your stand, you will be the last to be picked up, so you may have to wait at most 1 hour after legal hunting time to be picked up. If in range, your guide will contact you by radio and advise you of his progress.
Q. Is the accommodations government approved?
A. Yes we are fully approved, inspected and insured.
Q. How do I get a hunting license in New Brunswick?
A. Not a problem! We sell all licenses at our lodge. You will need a safety hunter card Or previous hunting license to be issued a license.
Q. If I harvest my black bear or deer early in the week what type of recreation Is available? (i.e.: fishing, other hunts, near by towns or cities, etc…)
A. There is plenty of fishing nearby and plenty of other attractions and activities for the hunter that scores early in the week. There are three near by golf courses, horse Riding stables, hiking trails, the kings landing historical settlement, worlds longest Covered bridge, the largest axe in the world and plenty of shopping at the nearby city of Fredericton or the town of Woodstock, only 35 miles from our lodge. Plus plenty more attractions.
Q. Once I have harvested my black bear, or deer where will it be registered?
A. We register the bears at our lodge and the deer is registered at a nearby registration station.
Q. Who will skin my bear and cut the meat?
A. We look after the skinning and quartering or we will deliver your bear to a professional meat cutter, for optional cutting and wrapping.
Q. Is there a local taxidermist and do they provide a price list.
A. Yes we have a very good taxidermist and he will provide prices on request.
